What is the cutting stock problem? + The cutting stock problem asks how to cut standard stock, such as pipes, bars or sheets, into the pieces an order needs while using as little stock as possible. It is a classic problem in operations research. The number of possible cutting patterns grows very fast, so good answers need mathematical methods such as linear and integer programming. How does ScrapZero reduce waste? + ScrapZero compares cutting patterns across all your stock lengths instead of filling bars one by one.
